Newsmakers: Feb. 18-24, 2019

Accounting
KPM CPAs & Advisors hired Caleb Spangler and Mikaela Matlock as staff accountants and Kelly Engelking as an audit coordinator. Both providing audit services, Spangler has a bachelor’s in accounting from College of the Ozarks and Matlock has a bachelor’s in accounting from Missouri State University. In the audit department, Engelking helps schedule, prepare and process audit reports and billings.

NewStream Enterprises LLC added T.J. Fazio as senior staff accountant responsible for preparing financial reports and analyzing product costs, margins and inventories. He spent the last eight years in accounting roles with Jack Henry & Associates Inc. and Gardner Capital Inc.

Architecture
BRP Architects added Alex Fernandez as a student architectural intern. A fifth-year architecture student at Drury University, he is scheduled to graduate in May with a master of architecture and minor in business administration. 

Banking and Finance
Old Missouri Bank promoted Sheila Wyant to senior vice president of deposit operations. She oversees six team members and monitors the bank’s core system. With 27 years of banking experience, Wyant has worked 14 years at Old Missouri Bank.

The Bank of Missouri promoted David Cook to community bank president for Springfield, Republic, Ozark and Nixa, and Tim Scott to community bank president in Branson. Cook, who’s also a senior commercial lender, previously served as community bank president in Branson, where Scott was a commercial lender.

Community
Terry Bloodworth of Springfield Hot Glass Inc. received the 2019 Tom Billionis Lifetime Achievement Award from the Downtown Springfield Association. Other annual DSA award winners were Locke & Stache, New Office of the Year; Craft Axe Throwing LLC, New Hospitality of the Year; Park Central Market, New Retailer of the Year; Pets & Pumpkins, New Downtown Event of the Year; Bret and Sheila McGowne, Good Neighbor Award; Ryan Wasson of Anvil Customs, Urban Legend-in-the-Making; Larry Askren, Volunteer of the Year; MSU, Developer of the Year; and Mother’s Brewing Co. LLC, Business of the Year.

Law
Baird Lightner Millsap PC promoted Katherine Thompson to partner. She has worked for the firm for six years, primarily practicing insurance defense, civil rights and employment law.

Municipal 
City Utilities Transit named Jody Cooper as 2018 Driver of the Year. A CU Transit driver since May 2015, he was unanimously selected for the honor by a group of his peers.

Nonprofit
TrailSpring Inc. named Brad Bennett as managing director. He has 20 years of nonprofit experience and founded Real Encounter Outreach Ministry Inc., which uses motorcycle, street bike and BMX stunts in outreach events. TrailSpring oversees Two Rivers Bike Park and builds multiuse trails in the Ozarks.

Transportation
OATS Inc. added retired transit director Scott Kosky to its board of directors. He led OATS southwest operations for 27 years, and was a certified community transit manager, before retiring in 2013. Kosky is filling a seat vacated by Nolan McNeill in December and will serve until 2020.
