Springfield comic book writer Michael Frizell is back with stories chronicling the histories of rock bands Guns N’ Roses and Bon Jovi.
Frizell, who also works as director of student learning services at Missouri State University, penned the comics released in October and promoted late last month in a news release from publisher TidalWave Comics.
Authored by Frizell, “Orbit: Guns N’ Roses” guides readers through how the “most dangerous band in the world” grew in popularity to become chart-toppers before their dramatic fall. In a sequel to “Fame: Bon Jovi,” the new comic “Orbit: Bon Jovi” was written in part by Frizell along with artist Jayfri Hashim. The latter did the art for the two comics, and Springfield freelance artist David Frizell – Michael’s younger brother – designed the special Guns N’ Roses cover.
“I jumped at the chance to work with Jayfri Hashim again. We’ve collaborated on several books and he just gets better and better,” Michael Frizell said in the release. “I think this comic is his strongest work to date as he captured the story I wanted to tell and nailed their likenesses.”
Frizell is known for writing political comic books, including those covering former FBI Director James Comey, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, among others.
