New $2.5M HQ for CJD, Mettemeyer underway

Posted online

An isolated elevator shaft being erected in Chesterfield Village foreshadows the new shared headquarters for CJD Engineering LLC and Mettemeyer Engineering LLC.

CJD co-owner Ryan Jones said general contractor Grindstone Construction LLC started work in late August on the $2.5 million, 14,000-square-foot office building at 2225 W. Chesterfield Blvd. The project designed by H Design Group LLC is scheduled to wrap in mid-May, he said.

The engineering firms currently share about 4,000 square feet at 2101 W. Chesterfield Blvd. Ste. B105, a nearby building leased from Chesterfield Village developer Larry Lipscomb. CJD, owned by Jones, Allen Davis and Clayton Forgey, shares no common ownership with Mettemeyer Engineering, operated by partners Alan Mettemeyer and Branden Warden, Jones said. But he said mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer CJD and structural engineer Mettemeyer often work on projects together, making a shared office space convenient.

“We share some common amenities currently and we’ll be doing the same thing in the new building,” he said, noting there’s no plans for the firms to merge, only “continuing to be good neighbors.”

In the building adjacent to what’s billed as the “world’s largest fork,” owned by Bob Noble, CJD Engineering and Mettemeyer Engineering will have 4,500 square feet apiece on the second floor and a third-level mezzanine. The 5,000-square-foot first floor will be available for lease, though a tenant has not been secured, Jones said.

The land is owned by Jones’ and Mettemeyer’s ENGR Properties LLC.

Recent projects both companies have worked on include Bear Village, H Design Group’s office and First Baptist Church of Bolivar, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
