Murney Associates, Realtors hit $1 billion in real estate sales this year for the first time in its history.
Kyle Drenon, director of marketing for Murney, said the company confirmed the milestone in early December. The company issued a news release Dec. 29 announcing the sales record.
“We came very close to hitting the mark for officially closed volume a few years back with $997 million, so it was a number we watched very carefully,” he said via email. “Overall, this milestone was reached due to the arrival of some very talented agents from other companies and the continued growth of veteran Murney agents.”
The vast majority of the sales came from brokering residential real estate. Murney ranked first on Springfield Business Journal’s list of the area’s largest residential real estate firms, published Dec. 3. The company reported $495 million in gross residential sales through June 30. Murney reported 5,117 residential transactions resulting in $936.2 million in 2017 gross sales. The company also ranked first on SBJ’s list of the largest commercial real estate firms, with 2017 sales of $41.1 million.
Drenon declined to disclose specific transactions that led to Murney’s record sales.
However, SBJ previously reported Murney agent Sherrie Loveland listed late hotelier John Q. Hammons’ former home in Southern Hills for $1 million. It was purchased in August by real estate investor Kim Kaufman, who said he intended to use the house as his personal residence.
