Missouri State University is leading this year’s enrollment among Springfield-area colleges.

As of its official census date last week, the entire system had 26,000 students, up from a previous record of 24,735 last fall. The Springfield campus also set a record for enrollment at 24,116, up from 22,834 in fall 2015, according to a news release.

Other area colleges posted increases or were roughly flat.

Drury’s traditional undergraduate population grew by 54 students to 1,372 this fall. Its total day-school enrollment moved up 4.1 percent, according to a release.

Southwest Baptist University’s student population is unchanged at 2,976, according to spokeswoman Charlotte Marsch. Ozarks Technical Community College also was flat at 13,260, said spokesman Mark Miller.

At Evangel University, spokesman Paul Logsdon said the incoming freshman class grew for the second year in a row, but the university’s total enrollment was not available by deadline.
