Missouri State University chose Letitia White-Minnis as interim dean for the McQueary College of Health and Human Services.
White-Minnis is scheduled to start in the interim position Jan. 1. She’ll succeed Helen Reid, who’s retiring Feb. 1 after 10 years as dean, according to a news release.
“Letitia has a strong record of leadership, teaching and service,” MSU Provost Frank Einhellig said in the release. “She’ll help the college continue to grow in key health care areas.”
White-Minnis currently works as associate dean of academic programs for the College of Health and Human Services, as well as department head of communication sciences and disorders. She has a doctorate from East Carolina University, and joined the MSU communication sciences and disorders staff in 2005. She became a professor in 2016 and was interim department head of communication sciences and disorders for a year before taking on the role permanently in 2013. Her appointment to associate dean was made effective in August 2017.
MSU plans to conduct a national search to find Reid’s permanent successor at the college, according to the release.
The College of Health and Human Services recently gained the McQueary name after an undisclosed donation from the family. A previous McQueary family donation in 2011 funded the expansion of the former Physical Therapy Building, which was renamed the McQueary Family Health Sciences Hall, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
The McQueary College of Health and Human Services offers 17 undergraduate and 21 graduate and certificate programs in areas including biomedical sciences, nursing, kinesiology and psychology, according to the release.
