The Missouri State University Board of Governors yesterday approved an extended lease for an existing Jordan Valley Innovation Center tenant and a bid for an on-campus elevator refurbishing contract.

JVIC and ESM
The board gave the go-ahead to a 12-month lease extension in JVIC for ESM Technologies LLC, MSU President Clif Smart confirmed.

ESM, which produces commercialized eggshell and eggshell membrane wellness ingredients, most recently signed a one-year lease on Sept. 1, 2016, for shared JVIC research space on the connected sixth floors of buildings one and two.

The new agreement extends the lease through Aug. 31, 2018, and sets up automatic renewals at 524 N. Boonville Ave. moving forward. The agreement last year stipulated monthly rent of $2,912. The original lease agreement included in the board’s agenda dates back to Dec. 1, 2014.

In an effort refurbish an out-of-service elevator in the Professional Building, the board awarded a project to Thyssenkrupp Elevator Corp.

Thyssenkrupp submitted the low bid of $91,282 for the project that has a total budget of $135,000, according to the board agenda.

The company beat MEI Total Elevator Solutions’ $114,010 proposal and Kone Inc.’s $119,595 bid.

The project calls on Thyssenkrupp to renovate the south elevator in the Professional Building, 609 E. Cherry St. The work expected to be completed during the spring semester would bring the elevator back online, as well as replace electrical components and fire alarms.
