Tucson, Arizona-based Mister Car Wash this week purchased Columbia-based Tiger Express Wash’s two Springfield locations.
Mister Car Wash spokeswoman Ciera Lopez said the deal closed Sept. 26 for Tiger Express’ car washes at 1146 S. Glenstone Ave. and 1820 W. Battlefield Road. The acquisition brings Mister Car Wash’s count in Springfield to six facilities. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Lopez said Mister Car Wash plans to rebrand the new locations by Nov. 13, pending permit approvals by the city of Springfield.
Mister Car Wash entered the Queen City in 2011 via the acquisition of the Auto-Magic name and assets. At the time, the company had 69 car washes and 28 express lubes in eight states.
Now, Mister Car Wash operates 246 car washes and 34 express lube centers — including three in Springfield — in 21 states, according to a news release.
The two Tiger Express car washes opened under the Legends Express Car Wash name in 2008 and 2009, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. It’s unclear when they switched to the Tiger Express Wash name. Legends now appears to operate solely in Oklahoma and Texas, according to its website.
The Greene County assessor’s website lists the Tiger Express properties under ownership by Legends. Lopez was unsure if Mister Car Wash also bought the property rights. She deferred questions to Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions Casey Lindsay, who could not be reached for comment by deadline.
Tiger Express now has three car washes apiece in Columbia and St. Louis, according to its website.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
