Nine of the 12 members of the National Park System Advisory Board resigned their posts Monday.
The members left the board in an apparent protest over their treatment by Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.
“We understand the complexity of transition but our requests to engage have been ignored and the matters on which we wanted to brief the new department team are clearly not part of its agenda,” board Chairman Tony Knowles wrote in a letter to Zinke.
The board reportedly has not met since President Donald Trump took office last January, despite being required by law to do so twice a year.
According to its website, the board is a group of “citizen advisers chartered by Congress to help the National Park Service care for special places saved by the American people so that all may experience our heritage.”

our national parks are a national treasure. it appears the trump administration has purposely ignored the request of the park board to meet. these members have served thru many presidential administrations. the trump administration should know that national parks are a major reason many foreigners come to the states for vacation. these families rent rvs stay in motels/hotels buy meals and suitcases of do-dads to take home. many parks re located in communities where their entire businesses cater to tourists. what a great way to implement the "let's us make America great again."
