Boulder, Colorado-based natural foods grocery chain Lucky’s Market set a Jan. 10 opening date for its first Springfield store.
The 28,000-square-foot store is one of the anchors of developer Brad Thessing’s Glenstone Marketplace, a $10 million, 100,000-square-foot shopping center at 3333 S. Glenstone Ave. Lucky’s Market, a chain of 26 stores, operates two other Missouri locations in Columbia and Rock Hill, according to its website.
Lucky’s hired Brad Clark — former chief operations officer of Leg Up Farmers Market in York, Pennsylvania, according to his LinkedIn page — as store director in the Queen City. He’ll lead 150 employees, according to a news release.
The grocery store chain will mark the Springfield opening with $10,000 in grants to Watershed Committee of the Ozarks and Springfield Community Gardens. Lucky’s also is scheduled to host a Jan. 13 tasting fair, a Jan. 23 sales day benefiting Care to Learn, and a fundraiser through May 26 for Ozarks Food Harvest, Ozarks Literacy Council and Harmony House.
Adjacent to the recently opened HomeGoods store, Lucky’s Market will offer in-store beer and wine during visits, as well as a made-to-order ramen bar, an in-house butcher and bulk options.
Other natural foods stores in Springfield include Price Cutter’s Ruby’s Market and MaMa Jean's Natural Market.
