Lost Signal Brewing Co. is closing up shop after five years in business.
The company announced on Facebook this morning that the 610 W. College St. brewpub and barbecue restaurant is scheduled to close June 4.
Owner Tyler Hoke confirmed the news in an interview with Springfield Business Journal.
"It's just our time to close," he said, declining to elaborate.
Hoke said the downtown brewery currently has 11 employees.
Last year, Lost Signal ranked No. 8 on SBJ's list of the area's largest breweries, with 409 barrels produced, a 27% increase from 2020. Hoke said the brewery was on track for a similar barrel production figure this year. He declined to disclose the company's revenue but said sales were up in 2021 compared with 2020.
Lost Signal operates in the former KICK radio station building, complete with a radio tower that's lit up at night. The business opened in February 2017, according to past reporting.
In addition to beer selections like the Smoked Pecan Porter, Lost Signal Lager and Under the Tower Sour, the menu includes entrees such as pulled pork, beef brisket and nachos, according to the company's website.
“To all the Lost Signal Brewing fans out there, thank you for all the support over the past five years,” the Facebook post announcing the closure reads. “This has been a wild ride for sure and I'm happy I got to share it with so many. But with everything, there comes a time to move on.”
Lost Signal is the second Springfield brewery to announce closure plans this year. Prehistoric Brewing Co. shuttered in February after 18 months in business, according to past reporting.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
