List: Springfield among top cities for foodies

Springfield ranked 67th on personal finance website WalletHub.com’s list of the top 182 cities in the United States for foodies.

The study that ranked San Francisco No. 1 gave the most weight to diversity, accessibility and quality, with 70 points possible on a 100-point sale. Affordability carried a possible 30 points.

The Queen City had an overall rank of 40.03. It placed 26th in affordability and 82nd in diversity, accessibility and quality, according to the list.

Springfield was beaten in Missouri by St. Louis, which placed 17th, but topped Kansas City’s 78th place standing.

Springfield’s specific ranks included:
    •    69th in food trucks per capita, at 0.07;
    •    77th in restaurants per capita, at 1.64;
    •    96th in restaurant diversity; and
    •    120th in grocery stores per capita, at 0.16.

To win the list, San Francisco scored 71.08 overall. It placed first in diversity, accessibility and quality and 151st in affordability. Rounding out the top five were Portland, Oregon, New York City, Los Angeles and Miami, Florida.

New York City, Miami and Orlando, Florida, tied for first in most restaurants per capita, according to WalletHub. The lowest-ranking city on the overall list was Pearl City, Hawaii, with a score of 17.46.
