Springfield-based Do Outdoors LLC, dba Lew’s Fishing Tackle, has a new CEO.
President Gary Remensnyder succeeds founder and longtime chief Lynn Reeves, who’s staying on as chairman, according to a news release issued this morning.
"The board and I have been working on a leadership transition plan that allows me to work fewer hours and focus my time primarily on strategy, product innovation and acquisitions,” Reeves said in the release.
Reeves
founded the company in 2009 after working 27 years at Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops as divisional merchandise manager for fishing, marine and water sports. After his 2009 exit from Bass Pro, he bought the licensing and brand naming rights for Lew’s. Last year, Austin, Texas-based private equity firm Peak Rock Capital acquired the company, though Reeves and Remensnyder maintained undisclosed stakes in the company, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
Remensnyder joined Lew’s in 2011.
“Gary's track record of growth in the fishing industry, and specifically with Lew's, makes him an ideal candidate to lead the company as its next chief executive officer,” Lew’s board member Peter Leibman said in the release.
In 2015, the company that also operates Sportsmans Factory Outlet relocated to a new $3.5 million headquarters at 3031 N. Martin Ave. fronting Interstate 44 east of Highway 65.
Last year, Lew’s was a finalist for the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Small Business Award. Interactive Dynamics LLC emerged as the winner.
