On the heels of two new center openings, Waltham, Massachusetts-based Fresenius Medical Care has more plans in place for the Springfield-area market.
The dialysis therapy provider recently purchased the former KPM CPAs PC building at 2003 E. Sunshine St., said Madeline Brown, marketing coordinator for project architect H Design Group LLC. Fresenius recently opened a new kidney care center in Bolivar about a year after adding a clinic at 3359 W. Kearney St. in Springfield. The company also operates a center at 1675 E Seminole St. in the Spring Valley Shopping Center.
Brown said H Design performed architecture work for the infill and exterior of the 19,500-square-foot building. She said work by BP Builders LLC — including the gutting of the interior — started in January and is slated for completion in the spring. Brown declined to disclose the project cost.
KPM listed the East Sunshine building for sale at $2.2 million through R.B. Murray Co. in 2013. The CPA firm moved to 1445 E. Republic Road in 2014 to accommodate more employees
after it merged with Davis, Lynn & Moots PC and Hlavacek Morris McIntyre Yates & Danielson PC. Ross Murray of R.B. Murray declined to comment on the sale.
