Michael Jackson’s biggest hits, such as “Thriller” and “Billie Jean,” should net music producer Quincy Jones $9.4 million, a jury said Wednesday in a verdict in the 4-year-old lawsuit.
Jones sought $30 million in royalties and production fees, far short of the $392,000 the Jackson estate contended Jones was owed, according to Associated Press reporting.
The jury of 10 women and two men had been deliberating since Monday.
“This lawsuit was never about Michael, it was about protecting the integrity of the work we all did in the recording studio and the legacy of what we created,” Jones wrote in a statement.
