The Joplin Globe's editor died of cancer yesterday. Carol Stark was 61.
Stark had worked for The Joplin Globe since 1983. She became the first female executive editor of the paper in 2007. She became regional editor in 2018.
Among her achievements, she's credited with leading the newsroom in its coverage of the 2011 Joplin tornado, for which the paper received several awards.
She's scheduled to be honored posthumously by the Missouri Press Association in September, when she'll be inducted into the Newspaper Hall of Fame.
