Jobless claims at lowest level since 1973

Around 222,000 Americans filed for jobless claims for the first time last week. That’s the smallest number since March 1973.

While the economy lost 33,000 jobs in September — mostly due to the impact of hurricanes — job growth is expected to rebound this month and later this fall.

Economists use unemployment insurance claims as a barometer of the job market, according to CNNMoney.
