Jeff Sessions resigns as attorney general

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday resigned under pressure.

In his resignation letter to President Donald Trump, Sessions said he was stepping down "at your request."

Matthew Whitaker, Sessions' chief of staff, is serving as acting attorney general, President Donald Trump announced.
