Hudson Hawk expanding into Arkansas

Posted online

Springfield-based Hudson Hawk Barber & Shop has set its sights on Arkansas for its ninth store.

Co-owner Thad Forrester this morning confirmed that Bentonville, Arkansas, will serve as home for the next location of the barbershop chain. He said the project is currently in the buildout phase in a new development area managed by Ropeswing Hospitality Group. The roughly 1,300-square-foot Hudson Hawk will be leased through Ropeswing for undisclosed terms and is scheduled to open in September, Forrester said. He also declined to disclose construction costs.

Forrester and co-owner Paul Catlett have been eyeing the Bentonville area for the past two to three years as a possible market.

“It’s a place Paul and I both like to go and vacation and just enjoy the area,” he said. “Bentonville … as a market is seeing a lot of development. It’s an up-and-coming area we want to be a part of.”

No additional plans beyond Bentonville are lined up at this time, Forrester said, but he added he’s hopeful Arkansas will serve as a new market for the growing company, which opened its first location in Springfield in 2013.

“When we started this company, we wanted to be sure one of them would go,” he said. “When we saw that things were going well and people wanted to be a part of our brand, we wanted to expand on that vision.”
