HSBC to pay $100M to settle currency rigging probe

HSBC, Europe's largest bank, agreed to pay more than $100 million to settle a U.S. criminal investigation.

The settlement comprises $63.1 million in criminal penalties and $38.4 million in restituion to an unnamed corporate client.

The bank has admitted its traders twice misused confidential information provided by clients to grow its own profits.
