Greitens appoints CoxHealth employees to advise state

Posted online

Gov. Eric Greitens appointed three CoxHealth employees this month to two state commissions.

The governor yesterday announced his selection of Eric Clay, CoxHealth’s director of public safety and security, for the state’s Homeland Security Advisory Council. That decision followed moves by Greitens earlier in December to appoint CoxHealth surgeons Drs. John Buckner and Jose Dominguez to the Missouri Veterans Commission.

Clay, who’s also a reserve lieutenant with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, joins a council tasked with reviewing state and local security plans and granting funding requests for public safety issues. Three members are appointed by the governor in the areas of health, fire and rescue, and law enforcement, according to DPS.Mo.Gov.

Both Buckner and Dominguez are retired lieutenant colonels, according to a CoxHealth news release. During its Dec. 13 meeting, the veterans commission elected Buckner as vice chairman, according to a separate release.

The nine-member commission is designed to help veterans and their dependents secure benefits, skilled nursing care and gravesites, according to its website.
