Greek Corner doubles size with acquisition

Posted online

The Greek Corner Screen Printing and Embroidery doubled its size with the acquisition of Springfield competitor Bigfish Screenprinting LLC.

Through the purchase that closed Jan. 1, Greek Corner expects to grow its annual earnings by twofold, according to a news release. With 16 employees, Greek Corner ranked fifth on Springfield Business Journal’s 2017 list of the largest 17 promotional products companies in the area. At 14 employees, Bigfish placed seventh on the list.

Bigfish Screenprinting owner Vicki Simpson, who founded the company in 2001, decided to retire from the screen-printing business and pursue personal endeavors, according to the release. In 2006, when Bigfish had nine employees, it posted revenue of $350,000, according to SBJ archives.

Greek Corner owner Jason Parke leads the combined company. General Manager Brad Parke, Jason's father, declined to disclose revenues or the terms of the deal.

“As part of the decision to sell, it was of utmost importance to me that the future owner of my business share in my personal values and the integrity on how my business is managed,” Simpson said in the release. “After a few meetings with Greek Corner, I was convinced that Jason would share my same values in treating my staff with respect and managing my business with integrity.”

Jason Parke bought Greek Corner in 2009 and merged it with his Nixa home-based business, J. Parke Screen Printing & Embroidery, according to Springfield Business Journal archives. According to the release, he’s since grown the company by 600 percent.

Greek Corner added 12 employees with the purchase of Bigfish.

"We know that Bigfish does some things better than Greek Corner, and we also know that we do a few things better than Bigfish,” Parke said in the release. “We are going to step back and observe what works best. After a period of time, we will take the best of both worlds and integrate those ideas and processes into a system that will create an even greater company.”

In the local promotional productions industry, Bolivar-based Creator Designs ranked first on SBJ’s 2017 list with 35 employees, followed by Springfield’s Express Press with 33 employees. Combined with the new employees from Bigfish, Greek Corner would rank third on the list with 27 employees, Brad Parke said.
