Owner/developer: Springfield-Greene County Library District General contractor: Morelock-Ross Builders Inc. Architect: Dake Wells Architecture Inc. Engineers: White River Engineering Inc., civil; J&M Engineering LLC, structural; CJD Engineering LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing Size: 15,000 square feet Estimated cost: $2.6 million Lender: None Estimated completion: Dec. 1 Project description: Springfield-Greene County Library District Community Relations Director Kathleen O’Dell said the project is a complete renovation and adds 1,500 square feet at the library branch. The original structure was completed in the 1970s with an addition in the 1990s, said Jim Schmidt, the district’s associate director. The design reallocates space from the removal of an old boiler and reclaims areas used for the business side of the library before computerization eliminated the need for record-keeping space, O’Dell said. It will add 10 parking spaces, a drive-up book drop and drive-thru service window. The branch was renamed in recognition of Springfieldian Jewell Schweitzer’s $1.2 million donation.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
