Project description: DanCo Cafe LLC is building the Queen City’s second south-side Newk’s on the former Balboa Bed Co. lot. Principal architect Steve Landwehr said the restaurant is deigned in an updated Newk’s Eatery look, with seating for 258 people, including 44 on the patio. The Jackson, Miss.-based fast-casual chain serves sandwiches, soups, pizzas and salads. Operators hope to springboard its Springfield presence into restaurants in the Columbia and Jefferson City markets.
