Project description: Maxon’s Diamond Merchants owners Rick and Jane McElvaine in January plan to relocate from the Brentwood Center after 26 years in the shopping center across from Battlefield Mall. In the move, they’ll nearly triple the size of the jewelry store to 4,000 square feet. Rick McElvaine said another 1,500 square feet is set aside for lease to a tenant. A central part of the new showroom, he said, is a 400-square-foot Rolex display with Black American walnut wood, “combed” limestone and a weighted green glass wall. “The environment is specifically designed by the manufacturer to their (specifications),” McElvaine said. “The intention is that this environment would be the same they might see at Torneau in New York, the Wynn in Las Vegas or Freds Beverly Hills.” H Design Group project architect Bryon Oster said crews are working toward completion by Dec. 31 for a grand opening early in the new year.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
