Project description: The multibillion-dollar, Scottsdale, Arizona-based Discount Tire chain is building its second Springfield store after entering the market in late 2016. The new tire shop is designed with six service bays, a 1,300-square-foot showroom and inventory capacity for 3,500 product units, said Discount Tire spokeswoman Chelsea O’Neal. Selling tires and wheels, the first Springfield store operates at 3670 S. Glenstone Ave. Discount Tire entered Missouri in 2013, and O’Neal said the Sunshine Street store will be its ninth in the state. Forbes ranks Discount Tire as the 92nd largest private company in America, with $4.3 billion in 2016 revenue and 18,635 employees. Founder Bruce Halle died in January. Company officials say they plan to surpass 9,000 stores in 34 states this year.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
