Frito-Lay unit boosts PepsiCo's quarterly results

On higher sales in its Frito-Lay unit, PepsiCo reported earnings and revenue that beat analysts' expectations.

For the company's second quarter, PepsiCo posted net income attributable to the company of $1.82 billion. That's down from $2.11 billion a year earlier. However, excluding one-time items, the $1.61 per share price beat analysts' expectations of $1.52.

Revenue rose 2.4 percent to $16.09 billion, ahead of analysts' forecasts of $16.04 billion.
