Forbes: Johnny Morris’ net worth climbs

While his net worth climbed, Johnny Morris dropped in rank on Forbes’ annual list of the world’s billionaires.

On the list released today, the Bass Pro Shops founder placed 480th with an estimated 2018 net worth of $4.4 billion. Morris ranked 441st last year with an estimated $4 billion net worth. He also recently was No. 172 on the annual Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans released in fall 2017, down from No. 148 in 2016, according to Springfield Business Journal reporting.

Morris’ real-time net worth as of this morning was an estimated $4.3 billion, according to Forbes.

Morris was the fourth-wealthiest Missourian among five state residents on the world’s billionaires list. The Missouri billionaires are:
    •    No. 183 Stan Kroenke, 70, real estate magnate and owner of sports teams, including the Los Angeles Rams, $8.3 billion;
    •    No. 207 Pauline MacMillan Keinath, 84, Cargill, $7.4 billion;
    •    No. 251 Ann Walton Kroenke, 69, Walmart, $6.6 billion;
    •    No. 480 Morris, 69, Bass Pro, $4.4 billion; and
    •    No. 629 Rodger Riney, 72, Scottrade, $3.6 billion.

On the list, Morris tied at No. 480 with 18 others, including Americans Robert Smith, the founder of venture capital firm Vista Equity Partners, and Russ Weiner, the founder of energy drink company Rockstar.

On Forbes’ list last year of the world’s billionaires, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ranked first with a net worth of $86 billion. This year, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos overtook Gates with a net worth of $112 billion. Gates dropped to No. 2 with a net worth of $90 billion.
