Floating pipe set to start massive ocean cleanup process

A 2,000-foot-long floating pipe nicknamed Wilson is being deployed today in the Pacific Ocean.

Its goal is to take on the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch," a giant floating trash pile between San Francisco and Hawaii.

Shaped like a U, the pipe has a 3-meter-deep net underneath to trap floating plastic. The plan is to recycle the collected materials.
