The family of a 21-year-old Ohio man filed suit against Cabela's and parent company Bass Pro Shops.
The suit alleges negligence and wrongful death after a gun was sold to man with a violent criminal history. That man, Paul Claren, went on to kill Bryan Galliher, the 21-year-old, in August 2016.
“Cabela’s and its employees knew and/or should have known firearms law in Ohio, the state in which it was operating, including the law that prohibited Cabela’s from selling a black powder firearm to Claren,” the complaint states.
Bass Pro officials did not return requests for comment by The Columbus Dispatch.
