Experts say worldwide mental health crisis creating economic toll

Experts say the world is facing a "global health crisis" from mental health conditions.

A team of 28 global experts assembled by the Lancet medical journal estimate a loss to the global economy to the tune of $16 trillion will occur by 2030 because of mental health impacts on people of working age.

The experts say there is a “collective failure to respond to this global health crisis” which “results in monumental loss of human capabilities and avoidable suffering.”
