Enactus appoints first new exec under CEO Jarosh

Posted online

The Enactus Board of Directors selected the nonprofit’s first new executive following the appointment of CEO Rachael Jarosh nearly a year ago.

Kraig Butrum starts today as the Springfield-based international academic and entrepreneurial nonprofit’s chief development officer. He succeeds Donna Patterson, who retired in April, according to a news release. Enactus develops the entrepreneurial and service skills of more than 69,000 students on over 1,700 university teams across 36 countries.

“Kraig’s international fundraising experience, his depth of knowledge in what motivates others to give and his enthusiasm for the Enactus mission inspired all of us,” said Kees Kruythoff, Enactus board chair and president of Unilever North America, in the release.

Butrum comes to Enactus from Arlington, Virginia-based Conservation International, where he led a five-year, $635 million development campaign for the conservation nonprofit.

As chief development officer at Enactus, Butrum will design and implement a development program and work with existing partners to strengthen its financials, according to the release.

Enactus had assets of $13.1 million as of Dec. 31, according to its website.

“I am inspired by the next generation of students who accept the challenges of today as opportunities for tomorrow,” Butrum said in the release. “Enactus is incredibly unique in that it equips those young leaders to fast-track solutions around the world and helps ground their knowledge of sound business principles through hands-on learning.”
