Eagle Speak wins Spin 66 Pitch Pit

Posted online
Eagle Speak, an audio chat platform for business, won the Pitch Pit competition held Friday at the Spin 66 Innovation Summit.

Jason Arend and Myke Bates presented the startup before panel judges Keela Davis, Melvin Sims, Kelly Pruneau and Steve Perryman at Missouri State University's downtown business incubator The eFactory.

Eagle Speak was one of five entrepreneurial teams that presented their ideas in six minutes. The other startups were:
    •    Logic Forte, a company that targets restaurant profits via predictive technology;
    •    Evolutionary Cuisine, a digital platform to teach international cooking skills;
    •    Brandcards Inc., a subscription-based Web app with brand management tools; and
    •    LocalRaces.com LLC, an online race event manager.

Eagle Speak took home $5,000 in cash and prizes.

During the pitch, Arend and Bates demonstrated their technology that allows users to speak with co-workers on computers without closing the application they're currently using. The service uses hotkeys and voice commands to allow users to speak to each other, show photos and present work progress.

In November, Eagle Speak also won Springfield’s second-annual Startup Weekend contest.
