Dynamic DNA partners with MaMa Jean’s

Posted online

Dynamic DNA Laboratories LLC and MaMa Jean’s Natural Foods Market LLC are partnering to sell genetic tests.

Starting today, Dynamic DNA will debut its nutrition and skin care genetic testing kits in three of MaMa Jean’s four stores — minus MJ’s Market and Deli, said A.J. Exner, who works in sales and marketing for Dynamic DNA.

“We really want to unlock your own genetic sequence to break it and help you live a more active lifestyle,” Exner said, ahead of an announcement scheduled this morning at Dynamic DNA’s Farmers Park office. “A big reason why we picked MaMa Jean’s to partner with is there’s a lot of community trust.”

MaMa Jean’s customers can pick up the Dynamic DNA tests in stores for $30, with the total per test increasing to $150 with lab processing fees. Through the tests conducted online, customers can learn how their bodies, on a molecular level, respond to certain foods and food intolerances, as well as skin care treatments for acne, psoriasis and other conditions, Exner said.

“It’s still very much a new thing,” he said of the tests, which Dynamic DNA already provides. “A lot of it’s still trying to educate people.”

At MaMa Jean’s, Exner said he would lead training efforts for the retailer’s employees so they can help customers understand the results of the genetic tests. Employees in the stores then can recommend certain products to customers based on the results.

“Customers can make better purchasing decisions,” he said.

Exner said Dynamic DNA yesterday dropped off a small shipment of product to test the market’s desire for the service at MaMa Jean’s stores.

Led by Austin O’Reilly, biomedical and genetic testing firm Dynamic DNA’s services also include genealogy and other tests, as well as molecular images of DNA printed on canvases to hang up in homes and businesses.
