Department of Labor sets prevailing wage rates

Posted online
Wage rates set by the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for use on Missouri highway projects were finalized Aug. 17 after the close of a mandatory 30-day comment period, according to a state news release.

The prevailing wage is the rate that must be paid to workers on Missouri highway and transportation construction projects.

In Greene County, prevailing wage rate for general laborers is $22.24 per hour. Skilled laborers earn slightly more at $22.79, according to General Wage Order 56, filed on July 1. The highest rate set in the county was for electrical linemen, at $36.53 per hour.

The highest wages set in the state for both general and skilled laborers was $28.87 per hour - in the city of St. Louis and in St. Louis County.

The MDLIR files a general wage order to set prevailing wage rates each year on or before July 1. If no objections are raised during the mandatory 30-day comment period, the wage rates are set and finalized, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
