CVB: Hotels to be busy this fall as events come to town

The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau expects the city’s lodging facilities will be busy this fall meeting the demand brought on by planned events.

Combined, the CVB expects 6,623 room nights as 15,275 people attend 15 events September-November, according to a news release.

The largest events on the calendar are the Oct. 12-14 Lake Country Soccer Sport Shake Fall Classic and the Oct. 22-23 Missouri Baptist Convention Annual Meeting. The soccer tournament is expected to bring 5,000 attendees to town who are projected to generate 2,400 room nights. At the Missouri Baptist Convention, CVB officials are expecting 600 attendees and 1,320 room nights.

Below are the other events, ranked by room nights. Also includes are the projected number of attendees and the event dates:
    •    Missouri State High School Activities Association softball championship, 510 room nights, 4,000 attendees, Oct. 18-20;
    •    Tri State Kennel Club AKC Dog Show, 440 room nights, 1,000 attendees, Nov. 3-4;
    •    Partners for Conservation conference, 340 room nights, 300 attendees, Oct. 2-4;
    •    Missouri Child Support Enforcement Association annual conference, 258 room nights, 200 attendees, Nov. 6-9;
    •    Missouri Dental Hygienists’ Association annual session, 207 room nights, 325 attendees, Oct. 18-20;
    •    Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Clubs Midwest regional conference, 203 room nights, 200 attendees, Sept. 13-16;
    •    Fraternal Order of Eagles South Central regional conference, 200 room nights, 300 attendees, Oct. 26-28;
    •    Missouri Coalition of Children’s Agencies fall conference, 175 room nights, 200 attendees, Nov. 13-15;
    •    Institute of Management Accountants Annual Heartland regional council, 150 room nights, 300 attendees, Sept. 19-20;
    •    Gifted Association of Missouri conference, 120 room nights, 200 attendees, Oct. 19-20;
    •    Jehovah’s Witnesses October Circuit Meeting, 100 room nights, 1,500 attendees, Oct. 21;
    •    Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Administrative Assistants conference, 100 room nights, 150 attendees, Nov. 7-9; and
    •    USSSA Baseball tournament, 100 room nights, 1,000 attendees, Sept. 14-16.
