CoxHealth reaches new deal with Aetna

CoxHealth signed a new deal to accept patients with Aetna Inc. (NYSE: AET) insurance plans.

Starting Sept. 1, most customers with Aetna insurance will have health care services at CoxHealth priced at in-network rates, according to a news release.

The two companies in January started Aetna CoxHealth Preferred, providing insurance coverage to Springfield-area businesses with 100 or more workers in Greene, Christian, Stone, Taney, Barry, Lawrence and Webster counties, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

Aetna CoxHealth Preferred was slated to open to employers with 100 or less employees this summer.

CoxHealth and Aetna also reached a deal to launch a preferred provider organization and an open-access product.

Mercy in January started an exclusive provider organization, Anthem Alliance EPO, with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri. Mercy also works with Aetna.
