Corbett Law Firm PC founder Jim Corbett died Jan. 14. He was 66.
Daniel Molloy, an attorney with the firm, this morning said Corbett died of cancer.
Corbett Law Firm was founded in its current iteration in 2007, according to Missouri secretary of state records. Molloy said the firm traces its roots back to the 1980s, as Corbett previously operated the company with various business partners.
The firm specializes in motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, wrongful death and insurance cases, Molloy said.
Molloy deferred questions on how Corbett’s ownership in the firm would be disbursed, and his son Matthew Corbett, who works at the business, was not in the office this morning. The company’s website lists two other attorneys.
“Jim was an exceptional lawyer and human being, and he was exceptionally highly esteemed by his colleagues,” Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association Executive Director Crista Hogan said via email this morning.
Jim’s family has set up a memorial website, which as of this morning, had nearly 30 posts from those offering condolences.
A celebration of life is scheduled 2 p.m. Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church, 525 South Ave., according to a notice sent to SMBA members.
