China plans launch of artificial moon

China is planning to launch an artificial moon into orbit by 2020.

The man-made moon, which is essentially an illuminated satellite, is targeted to be placed above the city of Chengdu, the capital of China’s southwestern Sichuan province.

The moon is being designed to supplement streetlights at night.
