China loosening rules on ownership of auto manufacturers

China plans to allow full foreign ownership of automobile manufacturers in five years.

The country intends to lift foreign ownership limits on commercial vehicle firms in 2020. In 2022, China plans to do away with restrictions on passenger vehicle firms.

Currently, foreign carmakers can only own a 50 percent share of a venture in China.
