Local Children’s Miracle Network sets another fundraising record

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth set back-to-back fundraising records.

The local CMN chapter brought in $1.9 million in 2017, a new high, after setting a record of $1.8 million in 2016, according to a news release.

“While we never want anyone to feel the need for assistance, we are extremely grateful that so many people are willing to help fill the gaps we have for local children and their families,” said Tim Siebert, executive director of CMN Hospitals at CoxHealth, in the release.

CoxHealth covers the local CMN chapter’s operating expenses, meaning all donations go toward the nonprofit’s mission of helping covering children’s health care bills.

Projects the 2017 funds will pay for include:
    •    the Special Needs Fund, which offers financial assistance for special medical needs not covered by private insurance or Medicaid;
    •    Family Care Grants, which help families whose children are in the hospital or need specialized therapy;
    •    the Care Mobile, which travels to provide health screenings and immunizations;
    •    CoxHealth’s Child Life program, a team of four people who tend to the mental well-being of children in the hospital; and
    •    school-based telemedicine, which allows children to receive care at school.

CoxHealth spokeswoman Kaitlyn McConnell said the local chapter, which launched in 1986, has raised $34.9 million through 2017.
