BBB issues warning on Springfield dog bed seller

Posted online

The Better Business Bureau is warning potential customers of Springfield-based dog bed seller Daneventures LLC, which does business as Daneproof.

Daneproof, which lists beds for Great Danes and other large dogs available for purchase at, has the lowest rating of F with the BBB, which states Daneventures is “not BBB accredited.” According to a news release, the BBB received 14 complaints since March against the company, 13 of which the owner, Daniel Smith, failed to respond to.

Consumers who filed complaints said they have not received the dog beds they ordered as long as six months ago, according to the BBB.

Smith could not be reached for comment by deadline at the phone number provided on the company’s website. The BBB also was unable to get in touch with Smith via phone, email and postal mail, according to the release.

“When businesses take shortcuts around good business practices, they eventually suffer the consequences,” said Michelle Corey, president and CEO of BBB St. Louis, which covers Springfield, in the release.

Daneproof continues to be active on Facebook, with the most recent post made on Dec. 12.

“We were on the verge of bankruptcy for a long time, and made every sacrifice imaginable to hold this company together through so much adversity and struggle,” a post from Dec. 5 reads.

According to the BBB, Smith posted on Facebook that Daneventures absorbed Red Tile Rehab LLC, which the dog bed seller launched under. The post read the new company “absorbed the outstanding order liability in exchange for all intellectual property and brand name,” according to the release.
