Posted online
Bass Pro Shops is working with the Missouri Job Center and Ozark Region Workforce Development Board on a hiring event tomorrow.

During the 10 a.m.-3 p.m. event at the Missouri Job Center, 2900 E. Sunshine St., the Springfield sporting goods retailer seeks to fill 80 open positions, comprising a range of full- and part-time and seasonal jobs, according to a news release.

The jobs include full- and part-time customer care representatives and call center workers, as well as seasonal distribution positions with an end date of Dec. 30.

Last week, Bass Pro was among more than 40 employers participating in Missouri Job Center and Ozark Region Workforce Development Board job fairs to fill over 2,730 jobs. Bass Pro was looking for 66 employees. In August, the company was part of a multiemployer job fair when it sought 75 hires.

In July last year, Bass Pro announced plans to lay off up to 500 employees nationwide, including fewer than 60 at its Springfield headquarters and Nixa fabrication shop.

Bass Pro, which employs around 20,000, announced Monday it would nearly double its workforce and store count with a proposed $5.5 billion buyout of Sidney, Neb.-based rival Cabela's Inc. (NYSE: CAB).
