Auditor gives Springfield, Monett license offices second-best rating

Posted online

Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway today issued audits on 10 license offices across the state, including locations in Springfield and Monett.

The two local offices each received “good” ratings, the second-best rank given by the auditor’s office, according to a news release.

The Springfield office at 1002 S. Glenstone Ave. was docked for not always recording on manual slips customers’ method of payment for driving record purchases and fees collected for driving privilege reinstatements.

For the year ended Dec. 31, the office collected and remitted to the Department of Revenue roughly $20.6 million in taxes and fees, according to the audit.

In its response to the audit, officials with the Glenstone office said they implemented the recommendation of recording all manual payment receipt slips.

At the Monett office, 200 E. Broadway St., the audit indicated employees did not perform independent supervisory reviews for 10 percent of prepayment void transactions. In its response, the office said it was undergoing employee turnover at the time of the audit and would remind workers about correct void procedures.

The Monett office collected and remitted to the DOR $4.5 million and retained processing fees of $139,313 for the year ended Dec. 31.
