Asynchrony Labs building out remainder of downtown campus

Posted online

Less than a year after relocating its Springfield office to a nondescript Brick City building, World Wide Technology Asynchrony Labs will soon utilize the remainder of the space.

Ben Pomerenke, the Springfield office lead for St. Louis-based WWT Asynchrony Labs, said the company is adding another 1,700 square feet of workspace with the renovation of the second floor. In total, the building at 440 N. Campbell Ave., adjacent to the intersection with Phelps Street, has around 5,100 square feet.

“When we originally moved in in December, we had only built up the first and third floors to accommodate our employees. As we settled in, we realized that wasn’t good enough,” he said. “We leased the building expecting to use the second floor.”

The project-based information technology consulting firm is investing “tens of thousands of dollars” to build out the second floor, which had been used for recreational and other purposes, Pomerenke said. O’Reilly Build LLC started the infill work earlier this month with plans to complete the project in November, he said, noting the building is leased for multiple years with options for undisclosed terms from Brick City Two LP.

Pomerenke said new clients have come aboard, changing up the way the Asynchrony Labs office’s 23 employees work.

“Up until now, in the last nine months, we’ve been constrained in how we could set up our work areas,” he said.

Asynchrony Labs’ local office currently has three clients, all outside of Springfield. Clients have included the U.S. Department of Defense and Mastercard Inc. (NYSE: MA), mostly developing web applications.
