With a
goal of 75 stores by the end of 2017, Andy’s Frozen Custard crossed the 50-store mark three decades after its first shop opened.
Store No. 50 launched yesterday in Fort Worth, Texas, according to a news release.
“Thirty-one years ago, when my mom and dad, John and Carol Kuntz, opened the first Andy’s Frozen Custard, they never imagined there would be 50 locations,” Andy’s Frozen Custard President Andy Kuntz said in the release, referencing the
March 1986 opening in Osage Beach. “While 50 is a big number, we are looking forward to the day when there are 10 times as many Andy’s to serve the public.”
It’s unclear if the store is corporate or franchise owned. A
July 2015 Springfield Business Journal article reported franchisee Eric Reed was splitting the Dallas-Fort Worth market with the company. In
April that year, Reed signed a 20-store franchise deal with Andy’s. Stevie Stryker, spokeswoman for the Springfield custard chain, could not be reached for comment by deadline.
Andy’s employs over 1,000 associates in its stores that stretch as far east as North Carolina, west to Colorado, north to Illinois and south to Texas. A store in Arizona is listed as pending on the company’s
website. Five other stores are marked as coming soon.
