Efactory interim director makes case for permanent promotion

The efactory’s interim director since April is now the permanent leader of the downtown business incubator.

Rachel Anderson was promoted effective Oct. 19, according to a news release. The former assistant director, Anderson officially succeeds Brian Kincaid, who resigned in March after being charged in December 2017 with misdemeanor domestic assault. She stepped in as interim director after the resignation.

After joining the efactory in January 2015 as entrepreneurial specialist, Anderson has been credited with helping to build the efactory’s programs, including its business accelerator.

“She has done a great job during her time at the efactory, and I look forward to the center’s bright future,” said Allen Kunkel, associate vice president of economic development at efactory owner Missouri State University, in the release.

Anderson in August said the incubator has 31 private offices and more than 40 companies with a combined 130 employees.

“We think we probably have anywhere around 1,000 people that walk through our doors every day because of our training programs,” she said during Springfield Business Journal’s monthly 12 People You Need to Know live interview series. “A big reason of why I’m here in Springfield is because I truly care about the mission and what we’re doing at the efactory.”

Anderson, a Springfield native, also is the co-founder of Alumni Spaces, a technology company that helps university alumni associations raise funds. She’s also manager for musician Shaun Munday.

The efactory is located within MSU’s Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, 405 N. Jefferson Ave.
