2017 40 Under 40 Honoree: Garrett Lowder, 28

Garrett Lowder has a leadership role in a grand educational experiment at Nixa Public Schools with the implementation of a STEM-based curriculum at John Thomas School of Discovery. The success of the science, technology, engineering and mathamatics program is among Lowder’s proudest accomplishments and he believes it has the potential to change the face of public education worldwide by creating an educational environment in which learning is driven by science and inquiry. Lowder, who was instrumental in the development of a systemwide two-year plan for school improvement, is a frequent presenter at educational conferences and provides instructional leadership for JTSD and Inman Intermediate School in Nixa.  

What was your first job? My first job was doing miscellaneous work for my best friend’s dad at his local rental business. I painted fences, mopped floors, mowed the yard, etc.

What is your theme song? “Eye of the Tiger.” My wife loves it when I get the family pumped with this song at 5 a.m.

What about your job would shock clients? I eat my lunch in 10 minutes walking around a room with 200 children opening milks on a daily basis.

What is your best productivity hack? Wake up early and get things done before the rest of the world wakes up.

Top secret alias if you worked for the CIA? Adam Dan Davis, or ADD for short
