Drury University is slated to formally install its 17th president this afternoon.
The ceremony for David Manuel, who took the helm June 1 to succeed retiring Todd Parnell, is scheduled 3 p.m. at Drury's Stone Chapel, according to a news release.
The ceremony caps off a week of activities celebrating the school's new leadership, including a speech yesterday by Dynamic Earth owner and Farmers Park developer Matt O'Reilly.
Manuel, who had served as chancellor and an economics professor at Louisiana State University in Alexandria, was named president of Drury during a Halloween news conference last year. He beat out 60 candidates and three finalists, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
Finalists included David Steele, the dean of the business school at San Jose State University in California, and David McInally, the executive vice president and treasurer at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, who on Oct. 19, 2012, accepted the president’s post at Coe College in Iowa.[[In-content Ad]]
