Former KC builder ordered back to prison for violating terms of release

Posted online
Former Kansas City builder F. Jeffrey Miller has been sentenced to an additional three years in federal prison because he violated the terms of his supervised release, prosecutors announced Monday.

U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson ruled earlier that he had operated a fraudulent real estate business after serving a 72-month prison term for mortgage fraud.

According to the Kansas City Star, the 53-year-old used his son's college fund to launch a company that purchased homes in Jackson County tax sales. He later sold them to poor buyers without making promised repairs.

Prosecutors submitted evidence Miller continued to commit fraud while on release.
